What is the Petite Nutcracker?

In 2014, Melanie created a unique “petite” version of our annual Nutcracker show. She wanted to give dancers in our pre-ballet (or petite) program a chance to experience the joy of the stage early on, so she created Petite Nutcracker to give them their own time to shine! Ever since, we’ve put on these one-of-a-kind shows twice a year, giving your kids a head-start in learning the skills of live performance and a chance to share the stage with our top dancers!

Make sure your dancer is enrolled in a pre-ballet class this fall so they can experience the magic!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • All kids enrolled in Petite Ballet or Ballet Fundamentals classes are automatically signed up for the Petite Nutcracker and the Spring Show.

  • All Petite Show rehearsals will happen in class with the exception of one Dress Rehearsal that will happen just before the show. You can find the dates for this by visiting agapedance.com/calendar.

  • Costumes for Petite Shows will be ordered by our staff so you don’t have to worry! Your kids’ teachers will work with you to get your child’s sizing info about a month before the show. Just make sure they come to the show in their pink tights and pink ballet shoes.

  • Hair for petite shows is the same as outlined in our uniform page (You can find that at agapedance.com/uniform). Make sure that dancers’ hair is pulled back neatly and that there are no wispies. For makeup, we ask for ‘light stage makeup’: foundation, soft-pink lipstick, blush, eyeliner. If your teacher needs anything that deviates from this, they’ll let you know!
